Curtis A. Main, 64, of Independence, IA died on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at his home in Independence.

Curtis was born on November 13, 1960, in Independence, IA, the son of John C. and Margie A. (Schanbeck) Main. He spent his early years on the family farm in rural Rowley, IA. He enjoyed playing with siblings and tinkering on go-carts, minibikes, or anything that had a motor. In the late 1960’s the Main family moved to Independence, IA.

In High School Curtis began working at Dutch’s Standard gas station in Independence where he learned how to fix cars and run a business. He graduated from Independence High School in 1979 and soon after began managing the station. Later, Curtis leveraged his mechanical ability and experience when he opened his own repair shop, C&C Automotive in Independence, IA. Curtis spent the remainder of his working years in the automotive industry while building and racing drag cars in his free time.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Linda Felton, Independence, IA, his daughter, Emily Main, Manchester; four grandchildren, his siblings; Tony (Christina) Main, Quasqueton, IA, Gail (David) Barker, Louisburg, KS, and Aron Main, Galena, IL.; and many nieces and nephews.

Curtis is preceded in death by his parents John, and Margie Main.

A visitation will be held from 4 PM until 7 PM on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home and Crematory in Independence, IA. A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 21st, at the funeral home.
