Sharon Rae McMurrin, 84, of rural Independence, IA – Otterville, died, Saturday, November 30, 2024, at her home following a short illness.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Crowbar in Independence.
Sharon was born June 28, 1940, to Virgil and Emma (Frost) Leidigh. She graduated from Kennedy High School, in Cedar Rapids, IA, and on December 21, 1957, she was united in marriage to Norman Nathaniel McMurrin in Oxford Junction, IA. She worked for Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids, IA, before retiring to the country in Otterville. She loved the country life and spending time with her family and friends. She loved her Schnauzer dogs and she was a great cook.
Sharon is survived by her son, Greg McMurrin, of Houston, TX; her great granddaughter whom she raised, Christara McMurrin, of Oelwein, IA; five granddaughters; several great grandchildren including Nicholas Bokemeyer; a great great grandson, River Good; and many nieces and nephews.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Kevin McMurrin in infancy and Rick McMurrin in 2007; a daughter, Joy McMurrin in 2010; and a granddaughter, Amber McMurrin in 2010.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
White Funeral Home, Independence, is assisting the family with arrangements.
