Lori L. Smith, 58, of Independence, Iowa, died Sunday morning, October 20, 2024, at her home.

Lori Lee Jacobsen was born August 27, 1966, in Oelwein, the daughter of Arthur T., Jr. and Dawn Berdine (Strong) Jacobsen. In 1984, she graduated from Independence High School in Independence. For many years, Lori was employed at the Independence Bulletin Journal in Independence. She also owned and operated Pop A Top Redemption in Independence. Lori enjoyed spending time with her dogs.

Lori is survived by her significant other: Jeff Gibson of Independence; brother: Kenneth Jacobsen of Independence; aunt: Fran (Darrell) Newsom of Waterloo; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and aunts and uncles: Sandy Clark, Ginger Strong, Doyce Strong, Jerry “Butch” Strong, Mary Ann Smith, Karen Parks, Donnie Jacobsen and Roxie Jacobsen.

Graveside Service: 1:30 P.M. Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein, Iowa, with Rev. Josh Schunk officiating.

There will be no visitation.
