Services for Gary A. Mast, 37, of rural Independence, who died Saturday in Des Moines, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Independence and 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center, burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center. A memorial fund has been established. Public visitation at White Funeral Home in Independence from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, and at the church prior to services at the United Methodist Church in Independence. Also public visitation from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center and at the Bethany Presbyterian Church prior to 1:30 services.

Survivors include his wife Jeanne of Independence, three children, John Jason, Gretchen and Mark Allen all at home: his mother of rural Beaman, two sisters, Mrs. Arlan Shipper of rural Beaman, and Mrs. Ken Skramovsky of Conrad, a paternal grandfather, J. Henry Mast of Marshalltown, and a maternal grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth McCoy also of Marshalltown.

He was a teacher and head wrestling coach at Independence Community High School.
