Marguerite B. Reeves, 100, of Independence, IA died on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at
Lexington Estates in Independence, IA.

Marguerite was born on September 7, 1923, in Shell Rock, IA, the daughter of Willam C. and Beatrice M. (Hurd) Althaus. She grew up in the Shell Rock, IA area and attended the Shell Rock Schools.
Marguerite was elected class president by her classmates and graduated from the Shell Rock
Consolidated High School in 1941.

She went on to work as a schoolteacher for several years in 1942. She later went to work at Bell
Telephone Company as an Operator, and later as the Administrators Secretary.

On December 12, 1943, she married William Harold Turner. They made their home together in
the Oelwein, IA area, later moving to California where they raised their five children together.
William passed away on November 16, 1991.

Marguerite later married Albert Reeves on April 24, 1993, they made their home together in
Independence, IA.

She is survived by a son, Bill (Monica) Turner, Henderson, NV, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, seventy-three great-great-grandchildren, a great-great-great-grandchild, a brother, Fred Lenards, a sister Rose McElroy, and many nieces and nephews.

Marguerite is preceded in death by her parents, William and Beatrice Althaus, her husbands, William Turner and Albert Reeves, four children, Maryann Althaus, Carol Lynn Christopher, Veronica May High, and Kathrine Ann Wodrich, a grandson, Joshua Turner, five brothers, Albert, Victor, Joe, John, and William Althaus, and three sisters, Mary Benson, Dorothy Good, and Roberta Mathis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday June 8, 2024, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence, IA, with Rev. David Beckman presiding. Inurnment will be held in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be said at 9 AM and visitation will be held at 9:30 AM until the service at the church.

The Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
