Kristine “Kristy” Edwards, 65 years old, of Erie, IL, and formerly of Quasqueton, IA, died Thursday, May 9, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Walker, IA, after a short battle with cancer.

Kristine Deanne Greenwood was born December 22, 1958, in Illinois, the daughter of Darrell and Nancy (Jacobs) Greenwood. She grew up and attended school in Erie, IL, and would eventually earn her GED and Licensed Practical Nurse certificate.

On March 29, 1980, she was united in marriage to Richard H. Edwards, Jr. in Erie, IL. The couple raised their children in Quasqueton while Rick worked in Cedar Rapids, and Kristy worked at West Village Care Center in Independence. Rick preceded Kristy in death in 1998.

Kristy loved life and loved to have a good time. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and reading; especially science fiction/fantasy books. She also liked classic rock music. Kristy loved being with her family and she adored her grandchildren.

Kristy is survived by her daughter, Sarah (Chad) Nosko of Walker, IA; son, Al (Stephanie) Edwards of Marion, IA; four granddaughters, Rachael Edwards, Hailey Nosko, Madison Nosko, Abigail Nosko; one step-grandson, Jonathan Wyant; one brother, Tim (Bonnie) Greenwood of Lyndon, IL; and many loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, David Edwards; and two sisters, Donna Gibson and Beth Lauritzen.

Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m. – Monday, May 13, 2024, at the White Funeral Home, Independence, where there will be visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Burial will be at the Quasqueton Cemetery, followed by lunch at Wolfy’s Wapsi Outback.
