Marlys Cue, 65, of independence passed away Friday March 1, 2024 at Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.

Marlys Jane Cue was born in Oelwein on June 19, 1958 to parents Emery and Florence (Quario) Bennett. She attended Oelwein High School. On November 23, 1993 she was united in marriage with Richard “Dickie” Cue at the Presbyterian Church in Hazleton. Marlys had a good heart and was willing to do anything for anyone she could.

Left to celebrate Marlys’ life are her children: John Bennett of Cedar Falls and Ricky Cue of Independence; her sisters: Marilyn Bennett of Independence, Carol Thein of Independence and Annette Wilkerson of Tennessee; one granddaughter; her special friend Dale Renken; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dickie (2003) and her brother Emery Bennett.

Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 PM on Thursday March 7, 2024 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM on Friday March 8, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein with Fr. Ray Atwood officiating.

Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
