Zelda K. Powers, 77, of Quasqueton, IA died on Sunday January 9, 2022, at her home in Quasqueton.

Zelda was born on July 7, 1944, in Waterloo, IA the daughter of George J. and Iris I. (Kress) Scott. Her family moved throughout eastern Iowa but always called Quasqueton home. She graduated from the Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, IA in 1962. She married Harold E. Powers on August 11, 1962, and they made their home in Cedar Rapids, IA. In 1986 they moved back to Quasqueton to be closer to family. Zelda worked for over twelve years at Walmart in Independence and enjoyed helping the customers and her coworkers. She also was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Quasqueton Historical Society.

Zelda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren outside. A lot of their memories were made on the banks of the Wapsipinicon River. Where they spent hours fishing, and hunting for clams.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Powers, Quasqueton, IA, two daughters, Teresa (Todd) O’Connor, Atkins, IA, and Carrie (BJay) Amthauer, Quasqueton, IA, two granddaughters, Taylor (Drew) Nickell, and Tara O’Connor, three great grandchildren, Kinnick, Karlee, and Kahne Nickell, and many nieces and nephews.

Zelda is preceded in death by her parents, George and Iris Scott, a son Steven Powers, a sister Ines Rinard, and two brothers, Eldon and Thomas Scott.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, January 14, 2022, at the Quasqueton Union Church in Quasqueton, IA. With Rev. Kevin Jennings presiding.

The Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
