Robert D. "Dean" Brown, 71, of Brandon, formerly of Independence, died on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Buchanan County Health Center in Independence. A celebration of his life will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, at the VFW Hall, 128 3rd Avenue NE in Independence.

He was born July 31, 1950, in Independence, the son of Perry Brown and Mona Brown (Dickerson). Dean graduated from Independence with the class of 1969. He married Darcia Tourtelott in 1969; they later divorced. He married Lee Ann Eastman in 1983; they later divorced, but reunited after a short time and remained a couple thereafter.

Dean most recently was employed with the Buchanan County Roadside Management Department before retiring.

He is survived by his partner, Lee Ann Brown; his daughters, Holly Brown (Shane) and April Powell (Greg); a stepson, Nicholas Kane (Jenn); two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two brothers; a sister; and many nieces and nephews.
