Larry Dean Lee, 81, of Independence, and formerly of Readlyn and Sumner, died on March 9, 2021, at MercyOne in Waterloo. Visitation and funeral services will be held on Monday, March 15, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Readlyn. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., and the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m.

Larry was born February 18, 1940, in Cedar County, Iowa, to Howard Lee and Norma Schroeder Lee. On February 11, 1962, he married Julene Schwake.

Larry is survived by his wife, Julene; five children; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother; and a number of brothers- and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws; an infant daughter; a brother; two sisters; and a number of brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Burial will be held in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Readlyn, with Pastor Phil Girardin officiating. Those attending the visitation and the service will be required to wear masks and practice good social distancing. Those not attending can watch the live stream starting at 11 a.m. on the St. Paul Lutheran Church Facebook page. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.
