Roger D. Noe, 84, of Independence, Iowa died on Sunday afternoon, January 24, 2021 at Prairie Hills Assisted Living in Independence.
A Private Family Funeral Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Independence, with Pastor Paul Evans officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Church’s Facebook page at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, January 28, 2021.

Public Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at the Fawcett-Schmitz Funeral Home in Winthrop.

Interment: Wilson Cemetery, rural Independence, Iowa.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings and the recent surge in the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing will be required. Those in attendance are required to wear a mask. We encourage relatives and friends not able to attend the service to reach out to the family by leaving a message on the funeral home web site, by mail, text or phone.

Roger Dean Noe was born January 2, 1937 the son of Otis and Velma (Davis) Noe in Garrison, Iowa. Roger graduated from Garrison Consolidated High School. Roger was united in marriage to Helen Louise Diehl on February 11, 1956 at Garrison, Iowa. To this union, six children were born: Sandra Jean, Michael Dean, Robert Allan, Nancy Ann, Laurie Lynn and Susan Kay. Roger farmed with his father at Garrison and began working at John Deere in Waterloo. On March 17, 1968, the family moved to their farm near Rowley. Roger worked at John Deere in Waterloo for over 30 years, retiring on May 1, 1996. Roger continued to farm the rest of his life. Roger was a member of the UAW Local #838, Pete’s Fleas Camping Club, and a neighborhood card club.

Roger is survived by his six children: Sandra (Ken) Johnson of Independence,

Michael (Julie) Noe of Rowley,

Robert (Pam) Noe of Independence,

Nancy (John) Nelson of Cedar Rapids,

Laurie (Gary) Bearbower of Independence &

Susan Wilson of Independence;

sixteen grandchildren;

twenty-seven great grandchildren;

brother: Dick (Teresa) Noe of Garrison.

four sisters: Delores (Anthony) Michaels of Walker,

Norma Riha of Elberon,

Kay Nading of Manchester, &

Sandy Dale of Monmouth.

and many Nieces and Nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Helen on September 27, 2015 and a grandson: Sean Nelson.
