Loretta M. Davis, 103, died Monday, August 13, 2012 at Oelwein Care center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 PM on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein with Father Harry Koelker officiating. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, August 16 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein with Catholic Daughters of America Rosary service at 4 PM and a Scripture Service at 6 PM. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens at Rural Hazleton.

Loretta was born on March 9, 1909 at LaMotte, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Margaret (Mortz) Hazer. Loretta attended school in LaMotte.

On September 2, 1931 Loretta was united in marriage to Lawrence Davis at Holy Rosary Church in LaMotte. She was a homemaker as well as a seamstress at Connor's, Eleanor's and Ross's. Loretta was a member of Sacred Heart Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America, American Legion Auxiliary, and Sacred Heart Senior Citizens.

Loretta loved to travel, finding bargains at garage sales, gardening-especially flowers, quilting and painting pictures. She also had a sweet tooth and loved candy. Most of all, Loretta loved the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Left to celebrate Loretta’s life are her grandchildren: Larry and Linda Davis, Mary and Dan Goedken, Jerry and Janiece Christensen, Robb and Michelle Christensen, Tom and Nancy Little, Jan and Chris Rabe, Loras and Denise Little, Ken and Lamar Little, Julie and Rick Trebon and Don Davis; 23 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren.

In death, Loretta has rejoined her husband Lawrence; her children: Gerald Davis, Donald Davis, and Lorraine (Little) Foster; her brother Clarence Hazer; her sister Viola Hames; her parents John and Margaret; her grandson Ron Little; her great grandson Jordan Trebon; and her great-great grandson Grady Davis-Fauser.

A memorial fund has been established in Loretta’s name.

Loretta's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Oelwein Healthcare Center for all their great care.
