Lewis D. Curtis, aged 73, a farmer near Independence, shot himself with a revolver and was found dead in bed by his son. Apparently he took his life under the influence of morphine, which he took to relieve pain.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Feb. 17, 1841 and died Feb. 18, 1913. He is buried in Otterville Cemetery.
