Lorraine Stedman, 95, passed away Saturday March 21, 2020 at Lexington Estates in Independence. Private graveside services will be in St. Peter Cemetery at Westgate. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Lorraine Bertha Anne Plaster was born January 1, 1925 to Edward and Minnie (Heeren) Plaster at Westgate, Iowa. Lorraine was baptized by the Rev. A.G. Webbeking at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Westgate. She attended St. Peter Lutheran School for 8 years. She was confirmed May 29, 1938 by the Rev. Otto C. Schultz. She then attended Maynard High School and graduated with the class of 1942.

Lorraine entered into Holy Matrimony with Douglas Guy Stedman on March 21, 1943 with the Rev Otto C. Schultz officiating. Into this union, three sons were born: Rollyn Douglas, October 5, 1944, Marlin Lee, February 18, 1949, and Bryan Edward, June 29, 1961.

Lorraine kept busy as wife and mother, and caregiver to many young mothers. She held offices as secretary and treasurer of Dorcas Circle, Sunday School teacher, and Luther League sponsor. In later years she was an employee of many Oelwein businesses. She had a passion for music and art. She enjoyed golf, baseball games, flowers, and gardening. Lorraine traveled to Austria, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Canadian Provinces, Belize, Cozumel, and Progresso, Mexico. She enjoyed seeing God's handywork. She baked many wedding cakes through the years, and enjoyed the art. She was a dedicated member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Lorraine is survived by her three sons: Rollyn (special friend Jan Johansen) of Clermont, Iowa, Marlin (Linda) of Pecatonica, Illinois and Bryan (Deanna) of Lakewood, California; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas; parents Edward and Minnie Plaster; sister Lois Briggs; and three great-grandchildren: Kelsey, Drake, and Lucas.
