Mrs. Phoebe Caroline Singer passed away at her home west of town, Dec. 26, 1910,
at the age of seventy-three years. She was born in Ohio and was married in 1855 to Lewis Singer. Two years later they came to Iowa and located on the farm where they have lived for over forty years. Twelve children were born to this union, viz.:
Mrs. Gertrude Walters, Osceola county; Mrs. George DeBois, Miss Kate, Mrs. Lillian Fernald and Grant of Winthrop; Mrs. Isabelle Melick of Monmouth, Ill. and Joseph of Manchester. Her husband and five children preceded her to the other shore.
Her health has been failing for several years but her final illness was of only a few
days' duration. All her children were at her bedside when the end came. The day after Christmas she answered the final call. The funeral occurred from the home Thursday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. Cheney. Burial was at
Fairview cemetery.
