Nels Carlson was born in Sweden in 1864 and was baptized at infancy and confirmed at the
age of 15 year in the Swedish Lutheran Church.
He came to America at the age of 18 years.

In later year he was married to Tillie Erickson in Chicago in the year 1890. They made their home in Illinois and later moved to Hazleton, Iowa.

For the past seven years they have resided on a farm a mile west of Westgate. He passed away in the University Hospital at Iowa City on March 7, 1937.

His burial took place at Hazleton on on March 10th in the Presbyterian Church. Rev. C. Rabenberg assisted by Rev. Brunn of Sumner officiated
