David John Fangman was born August 7, 1966 at Manchester, Iowa, the son of Richard and Phyllis Ryan Fangman. He attended North Linn schools and graduated with the class of 1986.

David worked with his father, Richard Fangman, field tiling and farming. Through the week, he was employed at Legacy Company as a forklift operator in Marion, Iowa, and farmed on the week-ends.

He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball fan, being a season ticket holder; loved stock car racing as a driver and as a fan in Farley, Iowa, and Independence, Iowa; watched Nascar racing, primarily following Dale Earnhardt Jr; followed the Cedar Rapids Kernels and St. Louis Cardinals baseball teams; enjoyed riding along in the Buchanan County Sheriff patrol car, with his brother-in-law, Mike; the farming and tiling gene ran through blood, enjoying every minute being on the farm; and above all, showering his love and gifts to his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death, were his parents.

Survivors include his two brothers: Mike (Daniela) Fangman of Walker, IA and Gerald (Janet) Fangman of Winthrop, IA; his sister, Pam (Mike) Ratchford of Independence; five nieces and nephews: Nicole (Kris) Gruber, Chelsea Ratchford, Michael Ratchford; Austin (Naomi) Dopp and Nicole (Jason) Ferriss; one great nephew, Trice Gruber, and one great niece, Mya Gruber; step mother, Mary Ann Fangman; and three special friends Scott Bradley, Clark Bradley, and Yochen Ideker.
