Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Lamont with Pastor Raelonna Patrick officiating. Music provided by Karen Kremer and Beau Timmerman. Visitation on Friday from 3 PM until 7 PM and Saturday after 10 A.M. all at the Grace United Methodist Church in Lamont. Casketbearers will be grandchildren: Kyle Streicher, Blake Streicher, Austin MacTaggart, Tyler Robinson, Carter Robinson, and Steve Rathsabandith. Honorary bearers will be: Allison MacTaggart, Alyssa Rathsabandith, Hanna Robinson, and Macie Wedum. Interment will be in Campton Cemetery East of Lamont.

Leon Streicher passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on October 1, after a courageous year long battle with cancer.

Leon was born on December 4, 1939 in rural Lamont to Alfred and Bertha Streicher. He met the love of his life Mardelle West and married her in 1961. They owned and operated Leon’s Plumbing and Heating Business for 40 years. He loved what he did and retired in 2015 , but still continued to share his talents with his community, church and family. He never turned down an opportunity to help someone and was known for his selflessness.

Throughout his life he was very active in the community. He served on the Lamont Volunteer Fire Department, Starmont School Board , City Council, various Church Committees, Common Grounds Board and was involved in other local events. He had many hobbies including woodworking, spending time with his family and friends, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and traveling. He was often found planning his next project to help one of his children, grandchildren or community.

When faced with any challenge, Leon accepted it with strength, courage and dignity. He is known for his honesty, integrity, hard work ethics, generosity, kindness and patience. He instills all of these values in his children and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife Mardelle of 57 years and his 4 children; Kevin (Brenda) Streicher of Lamont, Julie ( Shawn) MacTaggart of Strawberry Point, Laurie Robinson (fiancé Chris) of Inver Grover Heights, Minnesota and Jodi Wedum of Apple Valley, Minnesota. He had 9 grandchildren Allison, Alyssa , Austin, Kyle , Blake, Tyler, Hanna, Carter and Macie. He has 2 great grandchildren, Jaianna and Rowan. He is survived by his 4 brothers , Darwin (Patti) Streicher, David ( Sharon) Streicher, Larry ( Carolyn) Streicher , Loren Streicher and his sisters Doris ( Terry ) Brady and Lois ( Stephen) Kelley and sister-in-law Annalou Streicher.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Bertha Streicher and his brother Duane Streicher.

He will remain in our hearts and souls forever and loved his family and friends to the fullest. He impacted each and every one of us and we are thankful and truly blessed for that! He will be missed by all!
