Eva Margaret “Margy” (Heiserman) Scovel was born April 4, 1927 at Rockville, Missouri, the daughter of Frederick W. and Leloie (Mconnell) Heiserman. She graduated from Lamont High School with the class of 1944. She attended Normal Training at Upper Iowa College in Fayette and then taught one year at a country school south of Lamont.

Eva “Margy” Heiserman was united in marriage to Francois Neal Scovel on June 28, 1947 in Independence, Iowa. Margy was a school cook for Starmont at the Lamont Center, and later served as the Head Cook until her retirement in 1989. She was an active member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Eunice Circle, Lamont American Legion Auxiliary, and a long time volunteer with her husband, Neal, at the Common Grounds.

Margy and her husband of 59 years, Neal, enjoyed square dancing in their younger years and were adult sponsors for the United Methodist Youth group. They both greatly enjoyed their children, grandchildren, and their great grandchildren over many years. Margy also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, baking, being part of her community, and her card club, but most of all spending time with her family. Neal preceded her in death January 11, 2007.

Eva “Margy” died peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of December 31, 2017. We are confident she’s met Jesus, and is catching up with all her family and friends that were there to greet her.

Survivors include her daughter, Colleen Renee Lee of Lamont, IA; her son, Kevin Craig (Linda) Scovel of Elizabeth, Colorado; her daughter, Marilyn (Mark) Zwanziger of Strawberry Point, Iowa; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren, one brother: Gary (Shirley) Heiserman of Lisbon, IA; stepsister Mary June Hefly of Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Larry (Judy) Scovel of Bloomington, IL; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Neal, her brother Dean, her sister Juanita, and her son-in-law, Bill Lee.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 5, 2018 in the Grace United Methodist Church at Lamont, IA with Pastor Raelonna Patrick officiating and music provided by Karen Kremer.
