Barbara S. Kirkpatrick, 63, of Independence, IA died Wednesday August 9, 2017 at her home in Independence.

Barbara was born February 17, 1954 in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Robert K. and Wanda L. (Tucker) Kirkpatrick. She was a 1972 graduate of Dunkerton High School, Dunkerton, IA, and went on to receive a certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Allen College of Nursing in Waterloo, IA and. Barb lived for many years in Des Moines, IA and worked for years in several nursing homes. In the late 90’s she retired from nursing and moved to Independence, IA.

She is survived by a brother Roger Kirkpatrick, Fredericka, IA, an ex sister-in-law- Mary Kirkpatrick, Reinbeck, IA, a brother-in-law Daryl Magee, Brooklyn, IA, two nieces; Michelle Behrens, and Angela Lott, five nephews Michael Magee, Timothy Kirkpatrick, Jeff Kirkpatrick, Dave Kirkpatrick, and John Kirkpatrick.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert on September 25, 1997, Wanda on December 6, 2016, a sister Judy Magee on December 28, 2007, and a special friend Susan Decker on August 24, 2009.

A Memorial service will be held at 11AM Saturday with Russell Nesbit Officiating, at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, IA, where a visitation will be held from 9 AM until services.
