Pamela Rae Black, 68, of Independence, Iowa died Wednesday, February 15, 2016, at the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence, Iowa.

Pam was born on November 22, 1948, in Independence, Iowa the daughter of Alva H. and Martha I. (Cornwell) Long. She graduated from the Independence High School with the class of 1967, and was married to Ronald G. Black on January 4, 1969. Pam was employed for 27 years with the WalMart Store in Independence, Iowa prior to her retirement in 2015.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years; Ronald G. Black, three children; Randy (Karla) Long, Derby, KS., R. Todd (Michele) Black, Cedar Rapids, IA., and Lisa (Rick) Wendling, Independence, IA. Six grandchildren; Blake, Kennedey, Karter, Gavin, Sawyer, and Jorgie. A sister; Judy (Jerry) Lauer, Independence, IA.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Independence, IA. with Rev. Greg DeBoer officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Friends may call from 3 to 7 PM Sunday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, and from 9 AM till services Monday at the Church.
