Maxine Wessels, 93, formerly of Lamont, died Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.

Maxine Arlene Fern Wessels was born February 11, 1923 to Edward and Hannah Hansel Brown in Manchester, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Lester “Boots” Wessels on December 11, 1943 on the family farm near Lamont. They farmed and raised their family on the family farm. She was a long time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and St. Peter’s Ladies Aid in Lamont. In 1989 they built a house in Lamont. In 1993 Lester preceded her in death. Maxine moved in 2007 to the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.

Maxine is survived by her son Jerry (Jean) Wessels of Lamont; three daughters: Pat Clabaugh of Savage,MN; Linda Wessels of Richfield, MN; and Kelly (Robert) Faust of Strawberry Point, IA; twelve grandchildren: Chad Clabaugh, Corey Clabaugh, Craig (Stacy) Wessels, Nicole (Ryan) Rosburg, Matt (Casey) Wessels, David Faust, Tracey (Luke) Romig, Tiffany Faust, Hope Kellogg, Amber Wessels, Austin Wessels, and Justin Wessels; twelve great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Boots, son Jeffrey, and several brothers and sisters.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 1, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dundee with burial in Campton Cemetery at Lamont. Friends may call on Sunday, July 31 from 5 PM until 7 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dundee and after 10 AM on Monday.
