LaVerne Perry, 77, of Hazleton, Iowa died Monday evening, December 24, 2012 at his home near Hazleton.

LaVerne was born on April 16, 1935, near Brandon, Iowa the son of Luther L. and Bessie J. (Marovec) Perry. He attended the Quasqueton Schools in Quasqueton, Iowa. On April 14, 1956 he was married to Loretto N. Usher in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Laverne farmed in the Hazleton area and was employed as a welder with Transco and hauled livestock from 1982 to 1998. He also was a bee keeper for the last 15 years.

He is survived by his wife Loretto Perry, four sons; Mark (Joni) Perry, Spring Hills, Kansas, Steven Perry, Maxwell, Iowa, David Perry, Hazleton, Iowa, and Phillip (Erin) Perry, Oelwein, Iowa, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, two sisters; Betty Payne, Independence, IA., and Josephine Michaels, Independence, IA, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Luther L. Perry, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence, Iowa with Rev. Don Plamondon officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Hazleton, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm Friday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence where a rosary will be recited at 4 P.M. and a parish vigil service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Friday.
