Gregory J. Postel, 58, of Independence, Iowa died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at his home near Independence, IA.

Greg was born on July 16, 1954 in Winthrop, Iowa the son of Lynn J. and Elizabeth L. (Hahn) Postel, He attended the East Buchanan Schools in Winthrop, IA. Following his education Greg became employed as a custodian with St. John’s Catholic Schools in Independence, IA, then managed Lil Jenny’s Quick Stop in Independence for several years prior to becoming employed with Geater Manufacturing Company in Independence, IA in 1994 working until he was laid off in 2009.

He is survived by a daughter Jennifer Hansen, Walker, IA two grandchildren; Owen and Abby Hansen, three brothers; Gary Postel, Plymouth, MN, Jeff Postel, Aden Hills, MN, Lynn Postel, Burnsville, MN and a sister; Diane Lawless, Evansdale, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lynn and Elizabeth Postel, a son; Jay Postel, and two brothers; David and Mark “Tony” Postel.

Memorial services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA, with Rev. Scott Meador officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Winthrop, IA. Friends may call from 10 A.M. till services Saturday at the funeral home.
