Jewel F. Storlie, 91, of Independence, Iowa passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at her home in Independence, IA.

Jewel was born on April 24, 1924 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of Jacob and Olive (Balch) Fernau. She was a 1943 graduate of the Quasqueton High School, Quasqueton, Iowa. She was employed as a housekeeper with the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa from 1971 until her retirement in 1986. She moved to Independence Iowa in 2001.

Jewel enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, traveling and loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by six children; Lorraine (Verlen) Fulton, Independence, IA, Herbert (Tiny) Holman, Delaware, AR, Raymond (Deb) Holman, Fairbank, IA, Theresa Paul, Independence, IA, Bruce (Deb) Holman, Altus, AR, and Lemyra (Terry) Price, Rowley, IA. Eighteen Grandchildren, Twenty Three Great Grandchildren and Five Great Great Grandchildren.

Jewel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alvin Storlie, her son Delbert Holman, a daughter Celia Holman, a grandson Pete Fulton, a son-in-law Chuck Paul, and two brothers; Russell Hutchinson and Jake Fernau.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence with Rev. Bob Solon officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 AM Services Thursday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence.
