He was born on February 12, 1944, at Augusta Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Earl Gilbert and Shirley Mae (Olsen) Good. He graduated from Linbloom Technical High School in Chicago in 1962. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany. He achieved the rank of SP4E4 with top secret clearance. When President John F. In April 1967, Bill met Gloria Elaine Hamende on a blind date set up by his best friend, Rick. Six months later on October 14, 1967, they were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tinley Park, Illinois, and enjoyed 45 years together.

Bill worked 27 years at Capitol Wine and Liquor Co. in Chicago. For 25 years, he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local #705.

In 1988, they moved to Iowa where he enjoyed backyard picnics with family and friends, fishing, watching the Chicago Bears games, and NASCAR Sprint Cup races. Bill’s favorite activity was woodworking. For many years he sold his scrollwork at Main Street Café in Hazleton and at many area craft shows.

Bill is survived by his wife, Gloria, 2 sons, Shawn (Cathy) Hamende of Bonfield, Illinois, and Michael W. Good of Hazleton, 2 daughters, Michelle (Todd Astor) Murray of Center Point, Iowa, and Heather (Christopher) Stirm of Oelwein, and his 6 grandchildren, Tyler Garcia, Brandon Bork, Jason Stirm, Keegan Stirm, Logan Stirm, and Leah Stirm.
