Robert William Decker
(November 26, 1939 - January 2, 2016)

Robert William Decker was born November 26, 1939 at Independence, Iowa the son of Max and Eunice Franck Decker. He attended local schools at Winthrop and graduated with the High School Class of 1958. He attended Loras College in Dubuque for a time.

Robert was married to Judith Kathryn White on May 29, 1965. To this union were born three sons: Jeff, Rod, and Brent. They were later divorced. Bob lived in Winthrop for most of his life, working at Great Plains Lumber Company and Peterson Implement. He also co-owned Winthrop Sales and Service. Since his retirement he has lived in Manchester and assisted at Hartridge Golf Course.

Bob was a fan of all sports, but particularly Baseball and Golf. His favorite was the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball team. Robert entered into his eternal rest at his apartment in Manchester on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the age of 76.

He is survived by his three sons: Jeff (Fusami) of Cedar Rapids; Rod (Jean) of Elgin, IL; and Brent (special friend Jennifer Kolthoff) of Winthrop; four grandchildren: Kelly , Kyle, Jack, and James; two brothers: Roger (Mary Jo) of Winthrop and Craig (Linda) of Winthrop; six sisters: Katha Williams of Waterloo, Judy (Larry) Hayes of Ankeny, Dawn Decker of Ankeny, Diane Schuler of Jesup, Brenda (Don) Beierschmitt of Jesup, and Cheryl Decker of Independence; and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers: Judd, Kent, Bruce, and Duane; and one sister Carol Decker.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. , Thursday, January 7, 2016 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at Winthrop with Father Donald Plamondon officiating. Urn bearers will be his brothers Roger and Craig. Honorary bearers: Bill Gearhart, Hubert "Hubie" Mcginn, William "Billy" Decker, and Mike Roseberry. Inurnment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery at Winthrop.

Friends may call from 4 PM until 8 PM Wednesday, January 6 and until 10 AM Thursday, at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop.
