Anna Sevilla Tempus, 90, died peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Buchanan County Health Center Long Term Care Center, Independence, IA, where she had resided for the last 3 years.

Anna Sevilla Martin was born on November 24, 1924 to Otto and Minnie (Stauss) Martin at the family farm near Aurora, IA. She was baptized and confirmed in the First Baptist Church in Aurora. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1943. After graduation she worked at People’s Hospital in Independence as a cook.

On February 14, 1946, she was united in married to Lyle Harold Tempus at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union seven children were born: Charles, Peggy, Donald, Paul, David, Jerry and Douglas. Anna’s joys were her family, her garden, and her church. Her hobbies included gardening, cross-stitching and watching the Cubs. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurora, Farm Bureau and Kings Daughters.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Lyle, Independence; her children: Chuck (Lois), Aurora, IA; Peg (Roy) Angle, Coon Rapids, MN; Don (Mary Anne), Eastman, WI; Dave (Kathy), Nora Springs, IA and Doug (Joyce), Northwood, IA; 13 grandchildren; 1 step-grandson; 24 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Diane Tempus, Arroyo Grande, CA; Ellen Tempus, Pella and Linda Gosse, Independence; and brothers-in-law Roger Tempus, Independence and Gary (Roxie) Tempus, Smithland, KY.

Preceding her in death were: two sons, Paul and Jerry; her parents; Otto and Minnie Martin; brother John Martin; sisters Esther Strickell and Marcella in infancy; and daughter-in-law Suellen Tempus.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, Oct. 12, 2015 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Aurora with Pastor Ron Spears officiating and music provided by Rosalind Young.

Casketbearers will be grandchildren: Tom Tempus, Tina Kelly, Troy Tempus, Michael Angle, James Angle, Cathy Egge, Kevin Tempus, Kim Stenner, Kassie Tempus, Marcy Tempus, Brandon Tempus, Laura Tempus, Tyler Tempus, and Cory Sovers. Interment will be in Mt. Hope cemetery in Independence.

Friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday at Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop and after 9:00 AM Monday at the Church.
