Clarence A. Slade, 77, of Independence, Iowa died Sunday, April 20, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with his family at his side.
Clarence was born on August 10, 1936, in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Albert and Ruth (Boarts) Slade. He was a 1955 graduate of the Tiffin High School in Tiffin, Iowa. On November 2, 1956 he was united in marriage to Edna M. Brown. The couple made their home in Independence, Iowa where Clarence was the GM Parts Manager for Dunlap’s Motors in Independence until his retirement in 1998.
He is survived by his wife Edna Slade, Independence, IA., two daughters; Carla Slade, Marion, IA., and Corrine (Rob) Corkery, Brandon, IA. three grandchildren; Erica, Clark, and Cecily, and a sister; Gertrude VanDevender, Seattle, WA.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Estella Mancusso, Betty Brown, Eileen Slade, and two brothers; Charles Slade and Ronald Slade.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, IA, with Rev. Sheri Andersen officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Tiffin Cemetery, Tiffin, Iowa. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday, and from 8am till services Thursday at the funeral home.
