Edna Westemeier, 93, of Stanley died Friday, December 23, 2011. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Monday, December 26 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, December 27 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home as well. She will be laid to rest in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Edna was born on the family farm near Independence, IA on September 26, 1918, the daughter of John and Ida (Dean) Mishler. She graduated from Stanley High School. On October 22, 1935, Edna was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Westemeier at her family home. Edna was a wife, mother, and homemaker.

Left to celebrate Edna’s life is her daughter June (Ronald) Steffen of rural Stanley; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bob Westemeier (2000); her son Donald (Karen) Westemeier of San Antonio, TX; her parents John and Ida Mishler; her 2 sisters: Mabel Appleby and Ruth Bishop, both of Independence.
