Andrew Winfield Purdy, 61 years old, died at his home east of LaPorte City, Tuesday morning, from a heart attack, after ailing for sometime. He was the son of Gard and Laura Purdy, born in Black Hawk County, on May 18, 1884. He farmed near LaPorte City and Brandon all his life.

He was united in marriage to Jennie Zinn at Independence3, in 1908, who survives him, along with two sons, Harold and Gerald, both at home; four daughters, Mrs. Wade Rogers, Mrs. Hiram Rogers of Brandon, Mrs. Edwin Buck, LaPorte City, Mrs. John Bolton of Vinton; and five grandchildren. Also four brothers, Ed Purdy of Brandon, William, Charles and Henry, all of LaPorte City and one sister, Mrs. Ed Evans of Vinton, survives.

Two sisters and his parents preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 2 o'clock at the Christian church in Brandon, with burial in Brandon cemetery.

The body is at the Ashley and Waldroff Funeral Home and will be taken to the family home later.
