"CHARLES MOREY, 92,

DIES AT HOME

Early Settler in Racine

Co., Veteran of Civil War,

Passes Away

Union Grove, Wis.--Word has been received by Miss Edith Morey announcing the death of her uncle, Charles Morey, which occurred at midnight Sat., July 13, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Effie Bahmdar of Hazleton, Ia., following an attack of influenza.

Mr. Morey, who was well known by the older residents of this place, was born in Cayuga co., NY, April 10, 1837, and with his parents, Mr & Mrs. Gideon Morey, settled in Wisconsin in the fall of 1845 on the farm now occupied by Bert Rosendale, and where the first post office was established. He was married to Lizzie Walker, and soon after, in Aug. 1862, he enlisted in Co. A of the 22nd infantry, and served in the war until its close.

He then moved to Iowa, which had since been his home. He made frequent visits to the old home until the last year or so, and always attended the reunion of his regiment.

The funeral took place Tuesday, with burial at Hazleton. Surviving are his sons Charles and Ernest, and his daughter, with whom he made his home.

Mr. Morey had been a member of the Methodist church for many years."
