Irving Edward Hansen, 90 years old, of Littleton, Iowa, died on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo following a short illness.

He was born on November 9, 1920, in Brooten, Minnesota, the son of Claus Laurits and Emma Kathrine (Hansen) Hansen. He attended school in Clear Lake, Iowa. On August 22, 1948, he and the former Donna Marie Brown were married in Clear Lake, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1995. Mr. Hansen farmed and then worked in the foundry at Hawkeye Steel in Waterloo, Iowa, for 27 years before retiring in 1984. During his retirement, Mr. Hansen enjoyed several hobbies. He was an amateur bee keeper and gardener. He also raised rabbits and mink. He was a school bus driver for St. Athanasius Catholic School in Jesup. And, he was the primary care giver for his wife during her later years.

Mr. Hansen is survived by 2 daughters, Mary (Nick Lavenz) Britton of Waterloo, Iowa, and Linda (Mike) Claggett of Littleton, Iowa. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandson, 1 sister in infancy, 1 brother, and 1 foster sister.

Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at the Calvary Evangelistic Center in Independence, Iowa, with Rev. William F. Hill officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Dennis Stacey, pianist. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery in Clear Lake, Iowa.
