At the age of six years, the family moved to Buchanan County, where she has been a lifelong resident. She attended all twelve grades at the Rowley Consolidated School. After graduation in 1930, she did housework in Iowa City, Iowa, for a time until securing a job at the Mental Health Institute in Independence, Iowa. There she met and later married her husband, L.D. Walter farm north of Quasqueton, Iowa, and lived there until 1950, when they purchased the home farm southeast of Quasqueton. They moved to Winthrop, Iowa, in 1964, and Enid resided there until her move to Cardinal Court in Independence in 2005.

She was a former member of the Quasqueton Union Church in Quasqueton and a member of the Church of Christ United in Winthrop and served as church organist at both churches. Being a community minded person, she enjoyed her memberships in Women’s Fellowship, Hobby Club, Garden Club, WWW (Winthrop Working Women), C & C (Community Club), O.E.S. Chapter of Independence, and Winthrop Golf and Country Club, where she played many games of cards.

After a short illness, Enid entered into her eternal life on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, at the age of 98 years.
