Joanne Louise Roberts, 72 years old of Jesup, IA, died Thursday, January 6, 2011, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, IA of cancer.

She was born August 20, 1938, in Marietta, OH, the daughter of Robert Seffens and Alice Ruth (Mellor) Seffens.

On July 17, 1955, she was united in marriage to Neal Roberts in Marietta, OH. He preceded her in death on August 19, 2005. Joanne enjoyed being active, whether bowling, golfing, playing bingo, or spending special time with her children and grandchildren. For many years she was instrumental in muscular dystrophy fund raising in Jesup, through a yearly golf event.

Mrs. Roberts is survived by one daughter, Sherry (Don) Even of Dike, IA; two sons, Danny (Cheryl) Roberts of Cedar Rapids, IA, Donnie (Kim) Roberts of Jesup, IA; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and one brother, Claire Seffens of Marshalltown, IA.

Her husband and parents preceded her in death.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. – Monday, January 10, 2011, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, with Rev. Vicki Reece officiating.

Burial was at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup, IA.

Honorary Casket Bearers were Jennifer Schoepske, Mikki Roberts, Kari Ruden, Amy Scheckel, Tonya Roberts and Niccole Roberts. Casket Bearers were Adam Scheckel, Nate Schoepske, Chris Roberts, Mitch Roberts, Adam Lamos and Nick Ruden.

Memorials will be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice and to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
