Mrs. Ruth Agnes Brown

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Agnes Brown, 61, were held at 2:80 p. m. Thursday at the Swan-Funeral Home in Independence. Mrs. Brown died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday January 18 at the Mercy hospital in Iowa City-where she had been a patient for six days.She had been ill for about four weeks.

The daughter of Charles and Lena Clue Basek,she born June 29, 1893 in Independence. She, was married to Earl Bagenstoi of Independence,who preceded her in death. They were the parents of one daughter, Mrs. George Sowers of Wayland, Mo.

On Jan. 6, 1940 site was married to Earle Brown in Independence.He Survives. Mrs. Brown was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Rebekah lodge,King's Daughters and the Garden club.

She -is survived by her husband;her daughter,Mrs. Sowers;two stepsons, Wayne Brown of Long Beach, Calif., and Richard Brown of Independence; one step-daughter, Mrs. Harold Cholcher of San Leandro, Calif.; seven grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Charles Boyack of Independence;and one sister, Mrs.Charles Devens of Independence.

The Rev. W. H. Kettlitz officiated at funeral services and the Rebekah Lodge assisted in final rites.Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery.

Pallbearers were W. X.Gray, Fayne Fuhrman, Sr., Jack Gates, Howard Muxlow J. G.Weepie and Iver Rathbun. Assisting with the flowers were Mrs. Mae Elliot and Mrs. Bessie Miller.
