John R. Beck, 51, of Independence, Iowa died Tuesday afternoon, November 23, 2010 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa following a short illness.

John was born on August 27, 1959, in Independence, Iowa the son of Raymond and Raydell (Sweat) Beck.

He attended the Independence Schools and was employed with Edgeton’s Sanitation Service, Independence, IA., and Triangle Plastic, Oelwein, IA.

He is survived by two children; Belinda Beck, Independence, IA., and John Beck, Jr., Oelwein, IA., three step-daughters; Carrie Reed, Heidi Long, and Amy Cole all of Independence, IA., eleven grandchildren, His life partner, Lila, five sisters; Julie Spece, Independence, IA., Liza Moreno, Sterling, IL., Mary Benton, Independence, IA, Nancy Beck, Sterling, IL., and Ruth Lynn, Independence, IA., and a brother; Ronald Beck, Oelwein, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday, November 29, 2010, at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, IA., with Rev. Robert Solon officiating.

Burial will be in the Wilson Cemetery, Independence.
