Merle Karl Weltzin, of Fairbank, died Friday, November 19, at Oelwein Mercy Hospital, Oelwein, suddenly.

He was born April 20, 1941 at Jesup, Iowa, son of Ernest G. and Louise W. (Rohrssen) Weltzin.

Merle had served in the U. S. Army from 1961-1965.

He married Anita Perry on March 2, 1974 in Chicago, Illinois.

He was employed at Inland Protein in Dubuque, Iowa at the time of his death.

Survived by: his wife Anita, of Fairbank, Daughters: Angela Weltzin, Anita Weltzin of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Denise (Randy) Miller of Waterloo, Iowa, April (Ron) Cross of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, Tammy (David) Bastman of Lake Park, Iowa. Sons, John (Kelly) Weltzin, Harris, Iowa and Tom (Patti) Weltzin Lake Park, Iowa. Stephany Weltzin a granddaughter whom they raised and 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. One brother, Arthur (Barb) Welzin of Waterloo, Iowa. One sister, Jeneen Richter of Marshalltown, Iowa. Sister in-laws, Ruth Weltzin, Waterloo, Iowa and Sandra Dolan of Shreveport, Louisiana. One brother in-law, Miro Merfeld of Hudson, Iowa. Special friends, Doug Stoner of Fairbank, Iowa, Michelle Neverman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Kelli Kaysar of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Services: at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23, at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank with burial in the Fairbank Cemetery. With Military rites conferred by Fortsch-Duffy Post 552, Fairbank American Legion.

Public visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home and an hour before services.
