Terry Wayne Deke, 64 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Saturday, November 6, 2010, at East Towne Care Center in Independence following a short illness.

He was born on April 3, 1946, in Independence, the son of Bernard Werner and Hattie Orissa (Norton) Deke.

He attended special education classes in Independence and Waterloo, and worked as an assemblyman for Adults Inc. in Waterloo before retiring in 2007. He lived at the Solar Group Home in Waterloo for 20 years. And he was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence.

Mr. Deke is survived by 2 sisters, Dorothy Wilkinson and Sharon Naylor, both of Independence, 1 sister-in-law, Marge Deke of Independence, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Bernard Deke, and 3 sisters, Marilyn Hamilton, Eleanor Bender, and Betty Ann Deke (in infancy).

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence with Pastor Tom Jones officiating. Casket Bearers will be Mark Naylor, Scott Naylor, Steven Boody, Ray Wilkinson, Steve Scott, Carl Mundth, and Ron Fank.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.

Friends may call for visitation after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9th, at the funeral home.
