Maebena T. Klenzmann, 89, of Fayette, Iowa and formerly of Oran and Fairbank died on Thursday evening, November 4, 2010 at Allen Memorial Hospital at Waterloo, Iowa.

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church at Oran, Iowa; Officiating: Pastor Sandra Burroughs.

Visitation: from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa and after 9:30 A.M. on Monday at the church.

Interment: St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in rural Oran, Iowa.

Memorials may be given in her name to St. Peter Lutheran Church of Oran, Iowa.

Maebena is survived by: Brother—John (Clara) Pleis of Fayette, Iowa 2 Sisters-in-law—Lorraine Pleis of Oelwein, Iowa and Norma Pleis of Fairbank, Iowa Many Nieces and Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews, and Great Great Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Parents—Husband (Clarence Klenzmann on January 10, 1982)—2 Sisters (Ettaline Hein and Louise Reiter)—and 5 Brothers (Herman Pleis, Abel Pleis, Fred Pleis, Tom Pleis, and Jake Pleis).

Maebena Tena Pleis was born on August 28, 1921 at Allison, Iowa the daughter of Thomas and Tracy (Schrage) Pleis. She graduated from Fairbank High School at Fairbank, Iowa in 1939 and attended 1 year of college. Maebena married Clarence Klenzmann on August 15, 1943 at the St. John Lutheran Church at Fairbank, Iowa. She was a homemaker and also was a sales clerk at the Coast to Coast Store in Oelwein for many years. Maebena was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Oran, Iowa, a member of the Church Ladies Aid and Quilting Group and a member of the Red Hat Society of Fayette, Iowa. She enjoyed playing cards and fishing. Maebena has been a resident of the Maple Crest Manor in Fayette, Iowa the last 4 years.
