T/5 Richard John MORGAN - Reburial.

Funeral services for Tech. Fifth Grade Richard John Morgan, son of Mr. & Mrs. (Gertrude) George Morgan, 416 River Road, will be at 1:30 P.M. at Kearns Garden Chapel, with Rev. Harley W. Farnham, pastor of Grace Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery (Black Hawk Co, IA).

T/5 Morgan, who fought with the 168th Infantry of the 34th Division in North Africa and Italy, was killed May 28 1941(1944), in the drive on Rome.

He entered the army on May 28, 1941, went overseas May 1, 1942, and served in England, Northern Ireland and Scotland before embarking for North Africa.

Born Nov. 1, 1917 in Independence, Ia., he graduated from Rowley, Ia High School in 1935, and except for ten years in Illinois, he spent his entire life in Buchanan County (Ia).

Following graduation, he assisted his father on the farm, and before entering the army worked three years for the Eclipse Lumber Company in Rowley.

He was a member of the Rowley Methodist Church.

Survivors, in addition (to parents), are a brother Frank, 410 River Forest Rd., a sister, Mrs. Lewis Hare, Aurora, and the maternal grandfather, John Casteel, of Independence (Ia.).

NOTE: At time of death was serving as a messenger with his unit. This obituary was the result of a reburial from a European Cemetery.
