INDEPENDENCE- Amada V. Medina, 82, of Independence, IA, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Buchanan County Health Center following a short illness.

Amada was born September 13, 1926 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras the daughter of Alberto and Victoria (Flores) Medina. She received her education in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and worked as a Nurse for a few years until staying home to raise her children. She loved music, ballroom dancing and caring for stray dogs.

She is survived by a daughter Belinda Anthopoulos of Independence, IA, a son Luis Navaro of New York, A brother Oscar Medina of Honduras and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Ada Medina.

Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Wilson Cemetery, Independence with Sharon Bainbridge officiating.
