BRANDON: Myrna Emmaline Stainbrook, age 87, died October 24, 2006 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton following a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, October 27, 2006 at the Brandon United Methodist Church in Brandon with Rev. Julie McCullough officiating. Interment will be held at the Brandon Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 AM until service time.
Born Myrna E. Lassen on May 31, 1919 in Brandon to Severt and Emma (Miller) Lassen. She attended Brandon High School where she graduated in 1937.
She married Gerald Stainbrook on October 12, 1940 in Dubuque. They lived and farmed near Brandon all their lives. They had two sons, Alan, and Ronald. Ronald died shortly after birth.
Myrna was active in the Brandon Methodist Church, the ODO Club and the Lime Creek Fish and Game Club. She loved to play cards, read, have lunch with her friends and take care of her numerous animals.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, her parents, two brothers, Henry and Elmer Lassen and her son, Ronald.
She is survived by her son Alan and his wife, Vicki of Vinton, a granddaughter, Staci and Joe Larson of Atkins, a grandson Timothy Stainbrook of Brandon, two step-granddaugthers, Debra Beason of Garrison and Heather Harvey of Vinton, a step-grandson, Jeremy Landuyt of Germany and five step great-grandchildren. She also has three sisters-in-law, Hilda Stainbrook of Vinton, Cara Stainbrook of Waterloo, and Virginia Schnepf of Brandon, and two ex-daughters-in-law, who remain very important in her life, Kathy Noe and Judy Herring, both of Vinton, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.
She will truly be missed.
A memorial fund has been established. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
