Ruth P. Schnepf, 74, of Independence, Iowa died Wednesday morning, October 15, 2008 at the East Towne Manor in Independence following a short illness.

Ruth was born on November 5, 1933, near Brandon, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Vera (Gallaher) Rouse. She attended the Brandon High School and was united into marriage to Bernard L. Schnepf on January 2, 1951 in Independence, IA. The couple made their home in Independence where Ruth was employed with the Corn Blossom Co., the Gayla Ballroom, Rush Park Café, Tegen’s Five & Dime Store, and the Buchanan County Home prior to her retirement.

Ruth loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she enjoyed embroidering, quilting, and sewing on plastic canvas,

She is survived by two daughters; Nancy (Tom) Krapfl, Center Point, IA., and Janet (Mitchell) Gericke, Walker, IA., five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and a brother; Russell Rouse, Independence, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bernard in 2006, a son; David Schnepf, a great grandchild; Angel Gericke, two sisters; Opal Rouse and Genevieve Bauer, and a brother; Carl Rouse.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, in the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence with the Rev. Larry K. Daubs officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Funeral Home.
