Independence - Pearl R. Rommann, 85 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Monday, March 17, 2008, at East Towne Care Center in Independence following a short illness.

She was born on August 8, 1922, in Armor, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Bertha (Rice) Hatfield. She attended country schools. On November 25, 1940, she and Clarence Donald Rommann were married in Lancaster, Missouri.

He preceded her in death in 1988. In addition to caring for her family, Mrs.

Rommann was a nurse’s aide at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton, Iowa, and Peoples Memorial Hospital in Independence before retiring. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence.

Mrs. Rommann is survived by 1 son, C.E. “Butch” Rommann of Guttenberg, Iowa, 2 daughters, Karen (Stephen) Sauer of Walker, Iowa, and Vicky (Joseph D. Goodson) Olson of Kansas City, Kansas, several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 6 sisters, 4 brothers, and 1 grandson.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2008, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa, with Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Jonathon Olson, Jason Rickels, Brian Bries, Larry Rommann, and Jim Rommann. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, Iowa.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 20th, at the funeral home.
