JESUP — Arthur J. Frahm, 83, of Jesup, died on Thursday morning, March 6, 2008, at the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 10, at St. John Lutheran Church, Fairbank, with the Rev. Edwin Parker officiating. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Oelwein, with military graveside rites by Fortsch-Duffy American Legion Post # 552 of Fairbank.
Memorials may be given in his name to Cedar Valley Hospice or to St. John Lutheran Church.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Caroline Frahm of Jesup; two daughters, Sharon (Bill) Moran of Jesup and Deb (John) Yonkovic of Fairbank; four son, Arlen (Connie) Frahm of Cedar Falls, Steve (Candy) Frahm of Conrad, Jeff (Mary) Frahm of Independence and Rick (Teresa) Frahm of Jesup; 31 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews; a siser-in-law, Pauline Frahm of Tripoli.
Preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Willian Arthur Moran; great-grandson, Hunter Daniel Moran; a brother, Wilbur Frahm; and two sisters, Lorraine Young and Mabel Frahm.
Arthur John Frahm was born on Jan. 10, 1925, at Buck Creek, the son of John and Mary (Drier) Frahm. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific. He fought in Lattee Gulf in the Phillipines and after that served in Occupied Japan. Arthur married Caroline Mae Warnke on May 29, 1947, at Oelwein. He worked in the maintenance department at John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo for many years, retiring in 1981. Arthur was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Fairbank, Hook n Liner Club in Littleton and the Evansdale AMVETS Post #138.
