Independence - Marie A. McGill Langenfeld, 86 years old, of Independence, Iowa, and Cape Coral, Florida, died on Sunday, August 6, 2006, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, following a short illness.

She was born on December 25, 1919, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Anthony Christopher and Anna Catherine (Weber) Wieser. She graduated from the St. John’s Catholic High School with the Class of 1938. On June 24, 1940, she and Wayne LeRoy McGill were married in Independence, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1978. On January 14, 1984, she and Edward John Langenfeld were married in Independence, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1998.

Mrs. Langenfeld was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence, Iowa, and St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Cape Coral, Florida. She was also a member of the St. John’s Rosary Society, the Buchanan County Health Center Auxiliary, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary (Florida).

Mrs. Langenfeld is survived by 1 daughter, Linda (John) Borrett of Independence, Iowa, and 3 sons, Dwayne McGill of Jesup, Iowa, and Gary (Mary) McGill and Dean (special friend, Gwen Decker) McGill, both of Independence, Iowa. She is also survived by 1 step daughter, Ann (Pat) Moonney of Avon, Indiana, 1 step son, Tom (Ann) Langenfeld of Iowa City, Iowa, 1 foster daughter, Karen Mulnix of Independence, Iowa, 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 4 step grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Randy Lee, in infancy, and 3 sisters, Leona Swenka, Lorena Wieser, and Viola Burke.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence, Iowa. Fr. Al Vorwald was the Celebrant. Music was provided by Mrs. Bonnie O’Brien, organist, and the St. John’s Choir. On Monday, August 7th, there was a Parish Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa.

Casket Bearers were Brett McGill, Chris McGill, Randy McGill, Jason McGill, Kim Borrett, Kyle Borrett, Mike McGill and Nikki Murphy. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery in Independence, Iowa.
