Independence - Lurah Opal Krapf, 94 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Monday, November 13, 2006, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence following a long illness.

She was born on September 8, 1912, in Buchanan County, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel Edward and Virginia Evelyn (McKee) Hoover. She graduated from the Quasqueton High School with the Class of 1928. On April 4, 1935, she and Ray Ludwig Krapf were married in Rowley, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1970. Mrs. Krapf was a home maker. She was a member of the Rowley Presbyterian Church, the Farm Bureau, the Republican Party, and the Happy Hour Club.

Mrs. Krapf is survived by 1 daughter, Ruth J. Bassett of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and 1 step granddaughter.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Ada Kautz and Imogene Sauer, 1 half sister, Doris Stoner, and 1 half brother, Lester Hoover.

Memorial Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2006, at the Rowley Presbyterian Church in Rowley, Iowa, with Pastor Teresa Ingle officiating. Burial was in Troy Mills Cemetery. There was no visitation. Her body was cremated.
