Independence - Ruby Lorraine Bumgarner, 85 years old, of Independence, Iowa, formerly of Brandon, Iowa, died on Sunday, November 19, 2006, at East Towne Care Center in Independence following a short illness. She was born on June 3, 1921, in Olin, Iowa, the daughter of James Wilson and Verna Nelzona (Wood) Ireland. She graduated from high school in Oxford Junction, Iowa. On August 4, 1937, she and Frank Lee Bumgarner were married in Waterloo, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1996. Mrs. Bumgarner was a home maker. She was a member of the Brandon United Methodist Church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary in LaPorte City, Iowa.
Mrs. Bumgarner is survived by 4 sons, Keith (Betty) Bumgarner of Central City, Iowa, James (Marylou) Bumgarner of New Lisbon, Wisconsin, Rocky (Barbara) Bumgarner of Pine River, Minnesota, and Darren (Hope) Bumgarner of Spencer, Iowa, and 2 daughters, Dixie Lee (George) Joens of Brandon, Iowa, and Dyna Kay of Kiowa, Colorado. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Billy Joe Bumgarner, and 1 granddaughter.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Brandon, Iowa, with Rev. Julie McCullough officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Duane Gray, organist. Casket Bearers were Jerry Bumgarner, Terry Bumgarner, John Bumgarner, Casey Bumgarner, Jeremy Bumgarner, Aaron Joens, Frank Bumgarner, Jason Cory, Robert Joens, and Jeff Joens. Burial was in Brandon Cemetery in Brandon, Iowa.
