Independence - Victoria Bailey, 95, formerly of rural Independence, IA, died Monday, January 22, 2007, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence following a lengthy illness. She was born October 23, 1911, in Nanticoke, PA, the daughter of Joseph Sadowski and Novice (O’Rourke) Sadowski. Following her formal education she worked in factories in the east until after WWII. She then worked in the resort hotel industry in New York and Arizona until 1964. On April 26, 1952, she was united in marriage to Clarence E. Bailey in Florence, AZ. In 1964 they moved to a farm northeast of Jesup, IA, where they have made their home and farmed until recently moving to Independence.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by her husband Clarence of Independence, IA, 1 sister in law, Helen Blad of Jesup, IA, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter in infancy, Lynne Victoria Bailey, 3 sisters and 1 brother.
Funeral Services were at 1:30 p.m. – Friday, January 26, 2007, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, with Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Burial was in Old Barclay Cemetery, rural Jesup, IA. Memorials will be directed to charity.
